Lines of Vision
research material and videoprojection, 2011
part of the research project Social Spaces, together with Daniel de Zeeuw, Laurens Otto and Katía Truijen
When researching people in public space, I was mainly interested in their behaviour and the way they related to each other. Although there are usually a lot of people together at the Amsterdam train station, not so many words are said. People mind their own business, and while they travel from A to B, they are often occupied with people and thoughts from other places. But in what respect do these people being in the space together relate to each other nevertheless? What do they look at? When do their gazes meet each other? And at what intervals do the paths of their gazes meet?
